Assassin’s Creed Director’s Cut Edition

Released for the PC after meeting with success on the Xbox 360, this version of AC provides breathtaking visual effects via the high definition that comes with LCD monitors and tighter frame rates, assuming your machine has high-end components. However, the final control scheme offered with this version for use with mouse and keyboard is somewhat awkward and poorly planned making one yearn for a console gamepad.

Also in this version, Ubisoft made some minor modifications that enhance the game play to create a more logical approach from the AI supported characters. You can no longer blend into the scenery after a kill as the guards will now notice you. Also the navigation has been tweaked so that you can bypass The Kingdom and go into any visited city once you have been to all three.

There is some new content, but no new stories to play, nor any new targets for your assassins. Ubisoft’s creation now contains 9 investigation types to help break up the repetition in the game play. The new types are Archer Assassination in which you race against the clock while knocking off roof patrols; Rooftop Race that times your escape routes, but provides no other motivation; Escort in which you shadow your prey and keep other assassins from getting in on the fun; and Merchant Stand Destruction where you toss anyone in your path into storefront windows before you catch the attention of the guards.

All in all, the game provides challenging fight mechanics and a solid storyline, if you are willing to pay its above average price.
