Battlezone Arcade

In old sleazy arcades around the world, there is usually a game sitting menacingly in the corner: an evil looking black cabinet that players would have to climb into. Once seated inside the black box, the player was presented with a controller that looked like a cross between an aeroplane joystick and racing car steering wheel. Once the user has their bearings and their eyes have adjusted to the light, they will see that the graphics on the screen are actually 3D and the triangles moving before you are not flat. This experience was a breakthrough in visual technology in the arcades of the 1980s. Before this time, the games and their graphics were flat: nothing stood out, and if someone had asked if arcade games could be three dimensional, you would have been laughed out of the room or burned at the stake.

Once the player gets over the mind blowing breakthroughs of this game, he or she can then settle into the task before them: destroy the other tanks before they get you. Players can guide and manipulate your tank’s actions with the game’s controller, and with this tool, the player can guide his or her weapons so that they are aimed towards the target. Players will be so into this game that they won’t even notice when the time is up and the game is over. He or she will then have to climb out of the black cabinet and back into the daylight. This 3D game is a great experience, one that is certainly addicting.
